Hampton Roads Cosmetic Surgery - Permanent Make-Up (Micropigmentation)
Who is a Candidate for Permanent Make-Up?
If you desire permanent make up, tattooing is used for eyeliner, eyebrows, or lip margins. Circumstances which motivate women to undergo this procedure include: active sports participation, allergies to make up, oily skin which causes make-up to smudge, difficulty applying make up (poor vision, arthritis), and thinning or loss of your eyebrows. Also, a desire for permanent tattooing of reconstructed areola. Tattooing of discolored skin areas (usually congenital).
The intended result of permanent tattooing is color changes in the desired area. Also, enhancement of the lashes and/or eyebrows, improved appearance with or without make up, and minimization of scar visibility.
About Permanent Make-Up Surgery
Tattooing is performed under local anesthesia or sedation and local using special medical equipment and sterile dyes. The dyes are available in many colors and can be matched to skin tones etc. Special pigments are introduced into the second layer of skin known as the dermis. There is local swelling and mild discomfort following tattooing. The treated area usually looks normal within 7 to 10 days. You may go home with antibiotic ointment on the treated areas following the procedure.
Additional Procedures
Additional procedures that may enhance the result are an Eyelid Lift or other facial surgery.
