Permanent Lip Enlargement

Who is a Candidate for Lip Enlargement?

You may be a candidate for permanent lip enlargement if you have a desire for larger or fuller lips. The intended result is to create permanently or semipermanently larger lips without the need for repetitive procedures as would be needed with collagen injections or fat transfer (fat grafts).

About Lip Enlargement Surgery

A piece of tissue is borrowed from the scalp and grafted into one or both lips. Fascia (the covering of a muscle) or dermis (bottom layer of skin) are both excellent sources of tissue. The doctor will discuss the alternatives and assist in choosing the best source for you. Although the procedure can be done with local anesthesia only, the use of sedation plus local or general anesthesia will make the operation much easier to tolerate. A short incision is made in the comer of each lip. A tunnel is created under the mucosa, and the graft is pulled through and anchored at each end.

The lips are noticeably swollen for 7 to 10 days. Lip sensation is usually normal after healing.

Additional Procedures

Additional procedures that will enhance the result are Eyelid Lift, Face Lift, Nose Reshaping, Cheek Implants, and Brow Lift.
